A Mother’s ‘House of Hope’ Brings Love to Hospice Babies

 

Love for our little ones can come in many forms, and in many cases, for ones that aren’t even our own.

In 2012, former nurse and mother to eight, Cori Salchert began taking in terminally-ill babies to care for and comfort them in their final days.  Even as she herself battled through her own health related problems, her commitment to these children only strengthened.

Salchert sees her work as something special for her and her family:

“What a gift it is to be a part of these babies’ lives, to have the ability to ease their suffering, to cherish and love them even though they aren’t able to give anything tangible back or even smile in return for our efforts.”
